The Goal
With a showhouse room, the designer is their own client, allowing for an endless amount of possibilities. For this year's Mansion in May, held at The Abbey in Morristown, PHD teamed up with Custom Steel Ltd. to transform a small space which needed a complete gut and renovation, creating Rosalie's music room.
Since the house was built in 1904, the team was inspired by Art Nouveau and Art Deco interiors, incorporating elements of both design periods through out the space.
The designers installed a new herringbone floor and included a beautiful custom steel window wall that opened, allowing the sound of music to flow to the rest of the house. The walls have a beautiful floral wallpaper with a silver background, bringing in a touch of femininity. The steel console table was also custom made for the space, bringing in more "clean" lines. Antique Art Nouveau prints, hanging above the console, were the inspiration for bringing all of the design elements together and transforming this small space into a room that would leave anyone feeling inspired!!
