the Farm House
In 2007 the homeowners worked with Papyrus Home Design and the architect to renovate the farmhouse. Several years later, the team was called upon again to help restore the 200 year old barn, making it into a 3-car garage and pool house retreat.
This was a project that involved a close partnership with the architect and the builders, several permits and some heavy lifting!
The barn hayloft was re-imagined into a pool house retreat with a kitchenette, full bath, changing rooms, mudroom, laundry and guest loft.
The master bedroom in the farmhouse was painted a very pale blue. This soft palette acts as a nice complement to the rough-hewn beams.
In the barn hayloft, the builders were able to salvage old beams and leave them exposed. The original hay moving track and pulley system was re-installed on the central ceiling beam. The pale gray cabinets have a historic charm. Acrylic dining chairs and steel barstools can withstand wet bathing suits, while the steel dining room table, which is on casters, is easily moved about the room.
